Our impact

work changes people,
and people change the world

The Italian prison system, as it is organised today, struggles to fulfil its constitutional promise of rehabilitation. Most incarcerated people spend years in enforced inactivity, a suspended time, with no prospects and no path forward.
pana was created to change this reality with a concrete, working alternative.

when work enters prison, change
walks out

In every pana bakery, detention becomes an opportunity for growth, and work becomes a real pathway back into society.

key impact metrics

what we create:

  • Real, paid work that restores dignity and builds skills
  • Certified professional training, valuable both inside and outside prison.
  • Local collaborations between institutions, businesses and civil society.
  • Cultural change, through the Articolo 27 Association and initiatives such as Art. 27 Expo and the “Sentenced to do good.” community.

Every loaf baked, every person trained, every business involved becomes part of a new way of thinking about justice and inclusion.

measuring change

We measure our impact through concrete data and real stories:

  • Number of people trained and employed
  • Employment continuation after release
  • Growth of active laboratories across the territory
  • Economic and social value generated

We work for results that last, inside and beyond prison walls.

stories of renewal

When I knead the dough, I don’t think about the time I have left.
I think about what I can build.

– A., detenuto, laboratorio di Cuneo

Every story is a living reminder that change is possible when someone chooses to believe in goodness and in second chances.
